Consequences/Impact

CONSEQUENCES OF WRONG DIAGNOSIS

Misdiagnosis is fraught with consequences. In some cases, this led to death of patients who could have been saved. All of this is largely due to a lack of knowledge among health professionals because they are not equipped to assess and diagnose HAE.

With the involvement and approach of AOHQuebec, a wind of change is blowing in the healthcare circle. AOHQuebec offers accredited training to staff, and an emergency protocol is about to emerge in the province’s hospital ER in 2018.
